Polly’s Adoption Story
Miss Polly is our newest baby. We adopted her in April 2023. She is a sweet little girl with a ton of anxiety.
I saw Polly come into the rescue and immediately asked my husband if we could get her. He said no because we already had four dogs at the time. For months I begged for her. She had a leg similar to Snickers. An older injury that was never fixed. Polly could use her leg more than Snickers, though.
The rescue ended up holding an adoption event and I asked if we could take the girls (Piper and Snickers) to see my friend that runs the rescue. Both girls came from the rescue and my friend likes to see them after they’ve been adopted. A reunion of sorts. So, we went.
I immediately picked Polly out. She was attached to her foster. We sat down with our girls and started playing with Polly. Her name at the time (given by the rescue) was Rita. For some reason my husband started calling her Polly. I knew we were adopting her as soon as he gave her a name. I asked him why Polly and he said, “isn’t that what you wanted to name her?” (It was Poppy not Polly!). Obviously she was ours by that point. We took her home with us that day.
It has been a long journey with Polly. We have had her a little over a year now and she has opened up to me, my husband, and the other dogs. She was much needed in our family. Shortly after we adopted Polly, we lost Piper to cancer. Piper was Snickers’ best friend. We believe that Polly has kept Snickers alive and kept her from grieving Piper too much.
This sweet girl definitely belonged in our family.
